Join the Board of Directors

Ready to take your professional development to the next level? Know someone looking for an opportunity to lead? Consider applying to our Board of Directors.

SMPS Central Florida is led by 12 SMPS members who volunteer to lead the chapter. The Board is responsible for setting the strategic direction of the chapter. We strive to advance our membership's professional and personal development by growing our education and networking programs. Central Florida’s Board of Directors also makes sure the chapter remains fiscally responsible for our members today and in the future.

Plus — we have fun! Serving on the board is one of the best ways to connect with other members and learn together. It can be an enriching experience that gives you leadership and growth opportunities you may not have in your day job.

The Call for Nominations for the 2027 Board of Directors will open Summer of 2026. Information on the board positions and application process will be available then.

How Do I Apply?

Each year, the Nominations and Elections Committee issues a Call for Nominations to our membership for various available Board of Directors positions. The Call for Nominations is typically issued in March.

Nominations may be made by individual members (self-nominations) or by petition. All nominees must complete the  Nominations form and meet the nomination criteria. Position descriptions and eligibility information can be found in the Call for Nominations Packet.

The Nominations Committee evaluates individual nominations to confirm that candidates meet the minimum criteria and represent the best interests of our chapter and members. The Nominations and Elections Committee evaluates all candidates and submits a recommended slate for the Board of Directors. Members then vote on whether to adopt the new Board. If no petitioned nominations are received within ten days’ notice, the slate shall be declared elected and introduced at the Annual Kick-Off Meeting.
