Chapter Awards Program

NEW - The SMPS Central Florida Chapter has revamped its awards program. We offer Member Awards, and now a Marketer of the Year Award and Marketing Communication Awards.


Chapter Member Awards

Rising Star

The Rising Star Award recognizes a new member (two years or less) who has been actively involved in SMPS Central Florida and is showing great efforts to make the most of their membership. Voting members of the Board of Directors and previous winners of this award are not eligible.

Shining Star

The Shining Star Award recognizes a member (two years or more) who has been actively involved in SMPS Central Florida and has shown great dedication to the success of the chapter. Voting members of the Board of Directors and previous winners of this award are not eligible.

Member of the Year

The Member of the Year Award acknowledges an SMPS Central Florida member who has made extraordinary contributions to the success of the organization. Previous winners of this award are not eligible.

Marketer of the Year Award

SMPS Central Florida’s highest honor for professional achievement. This award is given to an individual who markets professional A/E/C services primarily in the Central Florida area. The award recognizes leadership, achievements and accomplishments in his or her career. Membership in SMPS Central Florida is not required.

Selection shall be based on the following criteria:

  • Establishing and maintaining high standards of marketing (can include strategic planning, business development, management, innovation, public relations, etc.)
  • Accomplishments, measurable results, benefits and how they exemplify marketing excellence
  • Exhibited leadership in the A/E/C community (well-known and respected in Central Florida A/E/C community; speaking engagements, publishing, etc.)
  • Mentorship, training or education of other marketers in the A/E/C community (formal or informal; within firm, within SMPS or other professional organizations, etc.)
  • Involvement with SMPS (current or past membership, speaker, offices held, etc.)

Marketing Communication Awards

The SMPS Central Florida Marketing Communication Awards offer professional A/E/C service firms an opportunity to showcase their best marketing communication efforts. Materials are eligible as long as they were created or issued in 2011 or 2012. All winners are announced at the awards gala held in August 2012.

Eligibility - Open to SMPS members and marketing professionals serving the Central Florida A/E/C community. Any Central Florida SMPS member or Central Florida marketing professional who took part in creating a communication piece for another firm may enter the piece, but they must secure the permission of the firm who owns the piece. If a communication piece was developed by a firm’s corporate office located elsewhere, it must have been developed specifically for use in Central Florida.

There are two possible awards for each award category. One award of excellence can be given to a regional firm and one to a national firm. A regional firm is defined as a company with offices solely in Florida. A national firm has offices both in Florida and other states. Please be sure to indicate on the registration form which category your firm is in.

Award Categories

Brochure – publication describing a firm’s background, services and capabilities or a specialized firm publication targeting a specific market or service

Special Event – a print or electronic piece produced for a one-time use to promote a special event such as an anniversary, new name, office opening, dedication, ground breaking, holiday card, party invitation, client appreciation gift, calendar, etc.

Specific Project Marketing – an item or series of items developed in support of winning one specific project. Materials my include qualifications packages, proposals, PowerPoint presentations, leave-behinds or anything that contributed to the total effort.
